Genafie McKnight, LCSW, is the Founder and Lead Clinician of GSM Therapeutic and Consulting Services, LLC, where she provides transformative, client-centered mental health care across the lifespan. As a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and practicing therapist, McKnight brings extensive experience working with adults, children, families, and the elderly, delivering compassionate and results-driven care.

She earned both her Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Social Work from the University of Pittsburgh, a nationally top-ranked institution in her field. In addition, she holds a Master’s degree in Nursing from La Roche University and is currently advancing her clinical expertise by pursuing a doctoral degree as a Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner.

McKnight integrates a diverse range of evidence-based and insight-oriented modalities, including Psychoanalysis, EMDR, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Narrative Therapy, Solution-Focused Therapy, and Humanistic approaches. She is deeply committed to achieving positive, measurable outcomes and approaches each client from a strengths-based and motivational framework. Recognizing the importance of holistic healing, she intentionally incorporates clients’ spirituality into the therapeutic process—an approach supported by research as a key driver of lasting transformation.

Beyond her clinical credentials, McKnight’s work is deeply informed by her lived experience. Having spent her formative years in the foster care system from ages 5 to 18, she embodies resilience and purpose. Through the application of spiritual and mental health principles, she transformed her own life journey and now dedicates herself to empowering individuals who have faced adversity to heal, grow, and thrive.
